FANUC America Corporation provides the most complete range of industry-leading robotics, CNC and motion control systems, and ROBODRILL machining centers. Our innovative technologies and proven expertise help manufacturers in the Americas to be more efficient, reliable and profitable.  FAC is currently searching for an Research and Development Engineer to join our team.  This role will be responsible for the execution of assigned development engineering tasks in the development of new products. The size and complexity of each assigned task will vary, but will typically last from 3 to 9 months in duration. The individual will be assigned several tasks to be completed concurrently.  In addition to new product development, this position will also be assigned work to resolve problems, typically unique to a customer installation, for existing products.  Primary responsibilities will include:  

  • Specific development of application software within an embedded real time operating system environment. This includes the following areas:
    • Real-time operating systems and file systems
    • Program execution environments
  • Specification, design, implementation of software developments or software enhancements to existing products.
  • Development and implementation of product tests and product test procedures.
  • Assist productization staff in the release of product software.
  • Development of product documentation.
  • Resolve field reported problems.
  • Communication with FANUC and other engineering staffs on product and development related issues.
  • Present a proposed product concept to selling division and select customers.
  • Update and modify design and engineering documentation as required for assigned developments.
  • Ability to develop simple project schedules.
  • Specific Software Development can include:
    • User Interface software design
    • Application development of embedded system applications in “C”, KAREL, and web technologies.
    • Database tool development
    • Web browser related development

Ideal candidate will have the following experience/skills and education:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering major preferred) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Strong ANSI-C language coding skills
  • Prefer Robotic Application experience
  • Strong FANUC robot experience including KAREL is a plus.
